Privacy policy for Blobling
English · Deutsche Fassung
In short
Blobling connects your iPhone directly to the Hermes Agent server you choose. Everything you send goes to that server, and from there to the AI providers configured on it. We, Hesperan, run no server for the app and receive no data from it: no account with us, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, no crash reporting tools.
Who is responsible
Hesperan, owner Eduard Röhrig, c/o POSTFLEX PFX-581-999, Emsdettener Straße 10, 48268 Greven, Germany — hello@hesperan.com. See the imprint. We publish Blobling and are the controller for the data you send us yourself (see Contacting us). We have not appointed a data protection officer; we are not required to.
Data that Blobling keeps on your iPhone stays under your control, and we have no access to it. Your Hermes server is run by you or by whoever you got its address from; they are responsible for what happens there.
What the app processes, and where
- Your sign-in. You enter your server's address, your username and your password. The password goes only to your server and is not stored; Blobling keeps a sign-in token from your server in the iOS Keychain, on this device only. The server address is saved in the app's settings.
- What you send. Messages, voice recordings, files, photos, scanned documents, approvals and settings for your bots go directly to your server, encrypted with HTTPS. Only a server in your local network can be reached without HTTPS, if you enter such an address.
- What your server sends back. Your bots' replies, avatars, routines, memory, read-aloud audio and the picture of a bot's computer screen come from your server.
- On your iPhone. To open quickly and work offline, Blobling keeps a cache of your chat history, your bots' avatars, bookmarks, read markers, messages waiting to be sent and its settings on the device, and your bots' names and avatars for the share sheet and the Home Screen quick actions.
- Dictation. Uses Apple's speech recognition, on the device where your iPhone supports it. Where it doesn't, Apple processes the audio under Apple's privacy policy. If speech recognition is not available, the recording is sent to your server to be turned into text there.
- Translation. Uses Apple's Translation framework on your iPhone. Language packs come from Apple.
- Camera, photos and files. Blobling only sees what you take, scan or pick, and only to send it to your server.
- Face ID (optional). The app lock and the confirmation of some approvals use Face ID through iOS. Blobling only learns whether it worked; it never receives your face data.
- Spotlight. So you can find them in iPhone search, iOS indexes your bots' names and roles, a short preview of each bot's last message and the titles of conversations and groups, on the device only. You can turn this off in iOS Settings under Blobling → Siri & Search; signing out removes the index.
- Share extension. What you share with Blobling from another app goes to the bot you choose on your server, nowhere else.
- Before your first message Blobling asks you once to confirm that your messages go to your server and on to the AI providers set up there.
Your server, your AI providers and Apple
Your Hermes server and AI providers. What you send in Blobling is processed by your server and by the AI providers and other services you configured on it (for example a model provider, search or email). That is your choice and your responsibility, under those providers' terms. We have no access to it. If someone else runs the server for you, ask them how they handle your data. Hermes Agent is software by Nous Research; Nous Research receives nothing from Blobling and is not affiliated with it.
Apple. Apple provides the App Store, downloads and updates, Face ID, Keychain, speech recognition and translation, under Apple's own privacy policy. If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's settings (Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements), Apple may show us crash reports and aggregated usage figures for Blobling in App Store Connect. They do not tell us who you are. If you test Blobling through TestFlight, the feedback and screenshots you send there reach us through Apple.
Contacting us
When you email us at hello@hesperan.com, we use your email address and message to answer you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where it concerns using the app, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: our interest in answering questions and fixing problems). Report a Response in the app opens an email to us containing the response you report; nothing is sent unless you send it. Our mailbox is hosted by ALL-INKL.COM – Neue Medien Münnich (Friedersdorf, Germany) as our processor (Art. 28 GDPR).
How long data is kept
- We keep nothing from the app, because we receive nothing.
- Data on your iPhone stays until you delete it in the app, sign out or delete the app. To remove the sign-in token, sign out in Blobling before deleting the app; iOS can keep Keychain entries after an app is deleted.
- Data on your server and with your AI providers: as you or the server's operator set it up.
- Emails to us: deleted when the matter is settled, unless tax or commercial law requires us to keep them.
Your rights
Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR), and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), in particular in the EU country where you live or work. The authority responsible for us is Der Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz Niedersachsen, Prinzenstraße 5, 30159 Hannover, Germany, www.lfd.niedersachsen.de. Write to hello@hesperan.com. As we hold no data from the app, a request to us usually concerns only your emails; for data on your server, contact its operator.
Right to object. Where we process your data on the basis of our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), you can object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21(1) GDPR).
We make no automated decisions about you (Art. 22 GDPR).
Children
Blobling is not meant for children under 16. We do not knowingly receive data from children.

Verantwortlicher
Hesperan, Inhaber Eduard Röhrig, c/o POSTFLEX PFX-581-999, Emsdettener Straße 10, 48268 Greven, Deutschland — hello@hesperan.com. Siehe Impressum.
- Anmeldung.
- Was du sendest.
- Was dein Server zurückschickt.
Schreib an hello@hesperan.com.
